Happy bear baby hat - free crochet pattern

X'mas hasn't here yet but how I like the traditional colors of it xD

Materials:
5mm crochet hook
Favourite colors of yarn ( I picked dark red and white)
Needle

Abbreviations:
Sc = Single crochet
Ch = Chain
Sl = Slip stitch
Inc = increase
Dec = decrease
Tc = Triple crochet
Dc = Double crochet
Inc tc = 2 triple crochet in same stitch
Inc dc = 2 double crochet in same stitch
Hdc= half double crochet
Dec hdc= half double crochet 2 stitches together
Inc hdc= 2 half double crochet in same stitch

Hat: start with dark red yarn.
R1: Magic ring, 8 sts
R2: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), 2 dc in each sts around, ( 8 times), sl to join, 16 sts
R3: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 24 sts
R4: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 2 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 32 sts
R5: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 3 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 40 sts
R6: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 4 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 48 sts
R7: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 5 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 56 sts
R8: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 6 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 64 sts
R9: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 7 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 72 sts
R10: Ch 3 ( as 1st dc), Inc dc, 8 dc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 80 sts
R11,12: dc around, 80 sts
R13: change to white yarn, sc around, 80 sts
R14,15: with white yarn, sc around, 80 sts ( fasten off)

Earflaps: (make 2) start with dark red yarn
Guess your best position for earflaps, crochet the 1st one where your hat left off and crochet the 2nd one on the opposite side.
R1: 13 sc
R2: ch1, turn, dec hdc, 9sc, dec hdc, total 11 sts
R3: ch1, turn, dec hdc, 5sc, dec hdc, total 7 sts
R4: ch1, turn, dec hdc, 3sc, dec hdc, total 5 sts
R5: ch1, turn, dec hdc, 1sc, dec hdc, total 3 sts
R6: ch1, turn, 2 hdc
R7: ch1, turn, dec sc (fasten off)
R8: change to white yarn, sc around the hat and earflaps to make the border.
R9: change to dark red yarn, start from the 1st stitch that begin earflaps, crochet as a border around earflaps, sc, hdc, dc, 9 tc, dc, hdc,sc, total 15 sts. ( fasten off)

Cut 2 strands of white yarn and 4 strands of dark red yarn ( about 1m each), fold in half, to make the braids. ( x2)

Bear's ears: (make 2) with white yarn
R1: Magic ring, 7 sts
R2: Ch2 ( as 1st hdc), Inc hdc, ( 7 times), 14 sts
R3: Ch2 ( as 1st hdc), hdc, inc hdc, ( 7 times), 21 sts
R4: Ch3 ( as 1st hdc), 2 hdc, inc hdc, ( 7 times), 28 sts
R5: sc around, 28 sts
R6: 2 sc, dec, ( 7 times), 21 sts ( fasten off)
Sew ears on the hat at about round 3.

Use white yarn to embroider nose and eyes.
