Besides slouchy hat, brimmed or newsboy style is what I always want to have more. ( If you know choosing a perfect brimmed hat can "frame" your face's shape :) This one is a simple pattern with a button up embellishment, ribbed lines and abit slouchy look.
Materials: ( I used )
Worsted weight yarn: (2 strands) dark blue
8mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Button
Abbreviations:
Ch = Chain
St(s) = Stitch(es)
Sl = Slip stitch
Sc = Single crochet
Inc = Increase
Dec = Decrease
Hdc= Half double crochet
Dec hdc= Half double crochet 2 stitches together
Inc hdc= 2 half double crochet in same stitch
Dc = Double crochet Dec hdc= Half double crochet 2 stitches together
Inc hdc= 2 half double crochet in same stitch
Inc dc = 2 double crochet in same stitch
Dec dc = Double crochet 2 stitches together
Tc = Triple crochet
Inc tc = 2 triple crochet in same stitch
Dec tc = Triple crochet 2 stitches together
Fpdc = Front post double crochet
Bpdc = Back post double crochet
Note: I holded 2 strands of worsted weight yarn together and worked with 8mm crochet hook for this adult size hat (23 inches, one size fits most)
Hat:
R1: form a magic ring, 10 sc, 10 sts
R2: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), 2 dc into each st around, sl to join, 20 sts
R3: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), (inc dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 30 sts
R4: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), (inc dc, dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 40 sts
R5: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), (inc dc, 2 dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 50 sts
R6: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), (inc dc, 3 dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 60 sts
R7: ch3 as 1st dc (or using standing dc technique), (inc dc, 4 dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 70 sts
R8 to R11: (6 dc, fpdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 70 sts
R12: ( 5 hdc, dec hdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 60 sts
R13: ( 4 hdc, dec hdc) x 10 times, sl to join, 50 sts
R14 and 15: hdc around, 50 sts
Brim:
R1: From the last st of the hat, skip 1 st, sl into next st, (inc sc, sc) x 10 times, total 30 sts, sl into next 2 st, ch1, turn.
R2: sc around, 30 sts, sl into next st, ch1, turn
R3 to R6: sc around, 30 sts, sl into next st, ch1, turn ( fasten off,
weave in ends)
Sew the button on and you're about to flaunt it xD
