Baby hat with twisted yarn - free crochet pattern

Crochet baby hat

I tried this with twisted yarn crochet and that's what it came out xD.

Materials:
5mm crochet hook
Favourite colors of yarn ( I used red and white)
Needle


Abbreviations:
Sc = Single crochet
Ch = Chain
Sl = Slip stitch
Inc = increase
Dec = decrease
Tc = Triple crochet
Dc = Double crochet
Inc tc = 2 triple crochet in same stitch
Inc dc = 2 double crochet in same stitch

Hat:
R1: Ch 2 or magic ring, 8 sts
R2: Ch 3 ( as 1st tc), 2 tc in each stitch around, ( 8 times), sl to join, 16 sts
R3: Ch 3 ( as 1st tc), Inc tc, tc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 24 sts
R4: Ch 3 ( as 1st tc), Inc tc, 2 tc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 32 sts
R5: Ch 3 ( as 1st tc), Inc tc, 3 tc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 40 sts
R6: Ch 3 ( as 1st tc), Inc tc, 4 tc, ( 8 times), sl to join, 48 sts
R7: Change to red yarn, inc sc in each stitch around, 96 sts
R8: Ch2 ( as 1st dc), dc in each stitch around, sl to join, 96 sts
R9: Dec , sc ( 48 times) around, total 64 sts. ( fasten off)
Make a yarn ball and attach to the top.

This one is a 16 inches size hat ( for 6 months babies)

  1. How would this pattern be revised to fit an adult head?

    1. Hello B! Just increase the rounds for bigger size, you may want to plus a few rounds between R 6 and R 7 ( from 48 tcs to 56, 64 tcs ... or more 'till it reaches the desirable size).
