Set up a custom domain for Blogspot with Godaddy

You can see that my blogspot.com turned into .com now. I know I don't need  to say how much it's worth  to own a custom domain instead of a free platform. It's a must for the long run xD

In fact, it's much simple  if you buy a domain from Google since they will map and redirect the domain to work with your blog easily. But I chose another domain seller- Godaddy, they provide account management for each domain, free email and competitive price.

As you may know Blogspot has updated CNAME setup settings for custom domain which now requires 2 CNAME records entered in your DNS settings to work with your blog. So it's a bit lengthy from the old way but you don't need a professional to deal with it.

This is my process:
After purchase a domain at Godaddy, log into your account, visit and follow the required steps in this page:
http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/5112/mapping-your-domain-name-to-work-with-blogger?pc_split_value=3

When you update your DNS record to use Blogger on your domain, please note that you'd better use http://www.yourdomain.com/
instead of http://yourdomain.com/ (without the www prefix is considered a naked domain)

After it is updated, go to Blogger dashboard --> Blog address --> Settings --> Publishing --> Add a custom domain --> Switch to advanced settings --> Enter your domain URL then click Save.
You''ll see this notification:

Don't worry! Now go back to your Godaddy domain managerment.
Click Tool --> DNS manager --> Edit zone

From CNAME section, click Quick add. Then copy and paste the second DNS ( This DNS is varied) from your Blogger to the given field. (The first DNS is already included in the CNAME section), click Save then there you'll go.

Enter your domain URL to redirect to your blog again, and finish.

$4 .com at GoDaddy.com! Expires 6/11/13.
